Master's Thesis from the year 2015 in the subject Computer Science - Technical Computer Science, , course: M.Tech (CSE), language: English, abstract: This work introduces an autonomic prospective on managing the fault tolerance which ensure scalability, reliability and availability. HAProxy has been used to provide scaling to the web servers for load balancing in proactive manner. It also monitors the web servers for fault prevention at the user level. Our framework works with autonomic mirroring and load balancing of data in database servers using MySQL master- master replication and Nginx respectively. Here nginx is used to balance the load among the database servers. It shifts the request to the appropriate DB server. Administrator keeps an eye on working of servers through Nagios tool 24X7 monitoring can't be done manually by the service provider. The proposed work has been implemented in the cloud virtualization environment. Experimental results show that our framework can deal with fault tolerance very effectively.Cloud based systems are more popular in today's world but fault tolerance in cloud is a gigantic challenge, as it affects the reliability and availability for the end users. A number of tools have been deployed to minimize the impact of faults. The proposed methodallows to use the state pdf estimate of the diagnosismodule as initial condition for the prognosis module,improving the accuracy of RUL estimates at the earlystages of the fault condition. This frameworkprovides information about precision and accuracy oflong-term predictions, RUL expectations, and 95%confidence intervals for the condition under study.Ground truth data from a seeded fault test are usedto validate the proposed approach.

In Hybrid Classifier approach Linear Discriminant Analysis score is used as an additional feature for Neural Network classifier. These models give a better fault prediction accuracy.

The book presents a 2D face recognition system using Markov random field matching methodology for establishing dense correspondences between a pair of images in the presence of pose changes and self-occlusion. The proposed method, which exploits both shape and texture differences between images, achieves very competitive performance compared to the current approaches. The algorithm bypasses the need for geometric pre-processing of face images. By virtue of the matching methodology embedded in the algorithm, the proposed approach can cope with moderate translation, in and out of plane rotation, scaling and perspective effects. Also by employing a graphical model based approach, the proposed system circumvents the need for non-frontal images being available for training a pose-invariant face recognition system. In contrast to the state-of-the-art approaches based on 3D models, the approach operates on 2D images and bypasses the need for 3D face training data and avoids the vagaries of 3D face model to 2D face image fitting.

Jeffrey Clark Tolerance As A Way Of Life


The purpose of this study will be to redefine the nature and source of tolerance through an analysis of the complex patterns of inter­dependence that develop in urban environments. Some of the most crucial developments in this process include the following: 1) Increased need for interaction among diverse types of people, 2) symbols and other forms of commonality external to the individual, and 3) develop­ment of institutions and mechanisms for regulating such interaction and upholding such symbols. First, literatures on urban sociology and re­search on civil liberties are used to create an urbanism- tolerance paradigm. Short comings of urbanism are discussed through more detailed views of the composition of populations and the potential for subcultural development. I then argue that past efforts to explain tolerance have been biased by attitudinal measures of the extension of civil liberties. Review of the historic context of urbanism and tolerance show that toleration of differences, at the structural level, is quite prevalent and that tolerant behavior is, in fact, a way of life.

Stoican Florin Set-theoretic Fault-tolerant Control in Multisensor Systems


Fault-tolerant control theory is a well-studied topic but the use of the sets in detection, isolation and/or reconfiguration is rather tangential. The authors of this book propose a systematic analysis of the set-theoretic elements and devise approaches which exploit advanced elements within the field. The main idea is to translate fault detection and isolation conditions into those conditions involving sets. Furthermore, these are to be computed efficiently using positive invariance and reachability notions. Constraints imposed by exact fault control are used to define feasible references (which impose persistent excitation and, thus, non-convex feasible sets). Particular attention is given to the reciprocal influences between fault detection and isolation on the one hand, and control reconfiguration on the other. Contents 1. His main interest is the fault tolerant control of dynamical systems through the prism of set theoretic elements. His current work involves further results in set theory and constrained optimization problems. Sorin Olaru received an M.S. degree from the “Politehnica” University of Bucharest, Romania, and both his PhD and Habilitation from University Paris XI, France, being awarded the European Commission Archimedes Prize in 2002. Since 2001 he has held different positions at INRIA and SUPELEC in France and visiting appointments at the University of Newcastle, Australia and NTNU Trondheim, Norway. He is currently Professor at SUPELEC, a member of the INRIA Disco team and senior member of IEEE. His research interests include optimization-based control design and the set-theoretic characterization of constrained dynamical systems.
